Athens Flying Week 2015

The opening "pre-show" of the Athens Flying Week 2015 took place yesterday evening over Phaleron Bay. The program included:

  • The Saudi Hawks (aerobatic team of 7 BAE Hawk of the Royal Saudi Air Force
  • Flypast of Aegean Air A320 and Olympic Air Dash8Q400
  • Three ultralight seaplanes of Aviodream
  • Jurgis Kairys flying solo his Su-31
  • Polish AF Mig 29 "114"
  • Sea rescue demo of the Hellenic Navy Helicopter Command

It seems that the Hellenic Navy helicopter display did not go as planned; the S70 helicopter failed to recover the rescuer who was subsequently collected by a RIB of the Hellenic Coast Guard.

There was also a team of UAV drone operators from Ucandrone who produced live video coverage of the air show and the spectators using two quadcopters.

More photos from the event are available at my ipernity.com photo collection.

The air show continues on Saturday 12 September and Sunday 13 September at Dekelia Air Base (LGTT).
