The old "archie" search engine is available once again at serialport.org via a special web interface!
The URL is https://archie.serialport.org/

For now this archie indexes freeware archives saved on hobbes.serialport.org
The archie server currently indexes 3 other ftp sites of the serialport project:
ftp.freebsd.org
ftp.dbit.com
ftp.adobe.com

Unfortunately the Archie search service has gone offline, perhaps permanently. Read their web page ( https://archie.serialport.org/ ) for updates.

ReplyDeleteWe had the Archie server running inside a Sun Sparc VM, and that VM is currently offline.
We may bring this back online in the future, but the Archie software is rather complex and not fun to work with at times. If you're interested in checking out the Archie software code yourself, please see:
